More Enterprises Using COBIT in Korea
Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (4 December 2008)— The number of enterprises in Korea that use Control Objectives for Information and related Technology (COBIT) as an IT governance tool has drastically increased, according to a recent survey. The survey was conducted by Prof. Lee Jung-hoon, vice president of the ISACA Korea Chapter, with his Yonsei University graduate school laboratory.
The September/October 2008 survey results indicate that 44 of 97 enterprises surveyed have adopted COBIT—three times the number of COBIT users identified in last year¡¯s survey. This year¡¯s survey also found that the percentage of enterprises adopting their own methodology has decreased from 64 to 46.
¡°Most Korean companies have reached the practical phase of IT governance implementation, asking how to implement or improve IT governance instead of why it should be implemented,¡± said Lee.
Four enterprises that demonstrated effective adoption of COBIT and other IT methodologies were awarded the 2008 IT Governance, COBIT and Information Technology Architecture/Enterprise Architecture (ITA/EA) Award: Korea Exchange (IT governance category), Dongbu Hitek (COBIT category), Samsung SDS (ITA/EA service category) and Korea Electric Power Corporation (ITA/EA customer category).
¡°The IT governance, COBIT and ITA/EA awards were established this year and will allow us to compile and share successful case studies and business innovation efforts from award-winning companies,¡± said Hwang Kyung-Tae, president of the ISACA Korea Chapter.
